Wow 5 weeks left until we fly away, oh my.
Things are really getting there now.
Our costumes are now ready for the BBQ on the 13th August (Lorna spent an age utilising her "Blue Peter" skills and expert knowledge with bluetack). Look out for the photos on the website from the 14th August onwards.
Hope it stays nice and dry for the day. |

| Just been online and ordered the camping gear for the trip. Used a fantastic online company called REI.com which will let us pick all the stuff up in California at one of their stores. Only 36 days to go now.....and just 15 days left at work for me! |

Okay, so we have less than 6 weeks until we fly out of the UK now (oh my, cant wait for this to start).
Next biggy is the Summer BBQ at our house (providing the weather holds out), with a distinctly American theme, yep its a fancy dress or bring something American to the BBQ day.
There will be a silly prize for the best US theme of the day (fancy dress is optional, but flags, hats or something with an American theme is a must).

So the plans are now firmly in place and Lorna is still busily finalising all of the fiddly details of where we will be going and where we will be staying (dear god no more country and western festivals please).
On a slightly different note, we will now be seeing Zoe Miles getting married in Las Vegas (since our paths will be crossing at the same hotel). We have booked out Elvis outfits ready for the occasion!
Seriously though we hope that Zoe and Dean have a fantastic day and we are very happy to be able to come along and see them both. |

| Bought THE tent today that is going to be our home for some of the time in the States. We've had a go at putting it up in the garden (pictures on the site). A bit larger than the one we used for Devon so hopefully it will be about right! |

Well, we have just finished a week trying out our survival skills on Exmoor in a tent, God help us in the States please.
It was lovely and sunny most days with thunder and lightning on most evenings. Beans seemed to be a constant theme, with the occasional cream tea (like every day) and nice meals most days.
With this experience behind us, we are now all prepared and ready for the US. |

| OK so I completed one of the next big steps - handed my notice in at work. Three months to work now until 31st August and the final day in the office. Now the clock really starts ticking..... |

| Well, today we did something we hope to not have to use in the trip - attended a Basic First Aid Course ran by Jo from the St John Ambulance service. It meant getting up early for a change on a Saturday but was well worth it. We had great fun and learnt quite a bit - although nothing on how to deal with a bear...which I'm sure we'll learn very fast! Can highly recommend attending something like this.Thanks for a fun day Jo & good luck with the wedding |
